"By His Spirit"

"Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts".
Zechariah 4:6(b)
Tucked away amid numerous prophetic messages is a powerful word given by God to the prophet Zechariah for His discouraged people:
"Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts (Zechariah 4:6)".
Zerubbabel and his Jewish comrades were heading to Jerusalem to heroically rebuild their beloved Temple. Although this was God's plan for His people, their courageous efforts were being thwarted by a lack of resources, their own limited ability, and strong political opposition.
They wanted to accomplish this great task for God, but found themselves powerless to achieve it.
How in the world would the Temple get built?
In vision, Zechariah was shown the answer.
A golden lampstand with seven lamps stood receiving oil from two olive trees. The trees' oil was carried to a central bowl which was then carried through seven pipes to the lamps. It was like a Holy Ghost assembly line.
The lamps were fully furnished with oil in the absence of any human aid. There were no human hands to gather the oil, pour the oil, or even trim the lamps.
Similarly, the great work of God to rebuild the temple would not be accomplished through human effort or strength, but by God's Spirit!
Is there any area in your life where you know God's will, but are personally powerless to carry it out? Today, may you lean not on your own ability or resources, but trust in the Holy Spirit's power to bring it to pass.
PRAYER:
Lord,
You and I both know the areas of my life where the tasks seem absolutely overwhelming and impossible to accomplish. I know success in these areas would bring You SO MUCH glory, but I am powerless to achieve it. Lord, even now, I put my trust in You! Please overshadow me by Your Spirit, and bring it to pass!
