"The Walk of Faith"

For we walk by faith, not by sight
2 Corinthians 5:7

What does it mean to walk by faith and not by what we see?

Do we go around pretending we don't see our present circumstances? Do we bury our heads in the sand and ignore reality? Is it denial, ignorance, or oblivion?

I believe the prophet Habakkuk shows us what it means when he declares:

"Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3:17-18"

Habakkuk is acknowledging reality-
Times are hard.
Our efforts have failed.
We are facing a crises.

Like a good news reporter, live on the scene,  he descriptively reports what he sees.

But what he sees, does not determine what he believes.

In the midst of despairing news, he still chooses to rejoice in the Lord! He declares, "I will find joy in the God of my salvation"!

God is still on the throne! God is in control!

Habakkuk's eyes rest not on what he sees, but in Whom He believes.
This perspective informs his steps.
This is the walk of faith.

PRAYER:
Lord,
I desire to walk by faith and not by sight. Please help me focus on You- Your goodness, faithfulness, and power! May this be the reality that guides my steps.
