Creator God
I praise God this morning for being our Creator!
I just finished reading Genesis 1:1-2, which says, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters."
The next verses that follow (Genesis 1:3-31) give a detailed account of how God created this world.
We see the creation of light; the separation of light from darkness which God organizes into "day" and "night". We see God bringing order to the waters; seperating the waters by creating a dividing line called "sky". Then we see God grouping the waters under the sky into one place (seas) and creating dry ground (land). God then speaks to the land and tells it to produce vegetation (plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds). God doesn't stop there, but decides to add some lights (sun, moon, and stars) to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, to seperate light from darkness, and serve as signs to mark seasons, days, and years. God then adds a few more touches to the water, land, and sky by creating living creatures to occupy it's space (birds, fish, and land animals). God's final act in creation was to create Mankind. Verse 31 of Genesis 1 says, "God saw ALL that he had made and it was very good."
WOW - Do you see it? God is able to take something formless, empty, and dark (Gen. 1:2) and turn it into something very good (Gen. 1:31).
I priase you Lord today, because no matter how dark our circumstances; no matter how chaotic our surroundings, you're able to bring order. You're able to bring light where there was no light. You're able to bring peace where there was chaos. You're able to make something beautiful out of a mess.
I praise you because you have the power. You have the resources to change our current situation. No matter how depressing; no matter how formless; no matter how out of control; no matter how barren; You have the power to create.
Today Lord, please create in me a clean heart! Please take the mess of my life and create something beautiful!
