A Heavy Heart
For the last hour, I've been online reading articles and scrolling through pictures of Hurricane Katrina and her devastation. The images are horrific. A year later, it still seems somewhat unimagineable.
I feel compelled to write in honor of those who experienced it. I join you tonight as you remember. And I pray for your continued strength as you rebuild.
There's another reason for my heavy heart tonight. I was informed today that Mrs. Paulette Guirand passed. She was my Teacher's Assistant for the four years I taught at Pyne Poynt Middle School In Camden, NJ. I was blessed to have known her. She was a wonderful woman with a special talent for cooking. In fact, she helped me make my first holiday turkey :). I'm grateful for the friendship we shared. I'm grateful for the memories.
Goodnight.
